⭐ Exercise 2: I Accept What Is

Residual karma from our past actions will sooner or later produce its effects. It is inevitable—no one can escape the law of cause and effect.
Therefore, the next time a negative event arises in our life, it is possible to respond with greater wisdom.
The exercise is to apply these few guidelines the next time residual karma comes knocking at our door.
What we should avoid doing:
- Becoming angry at ourselves or others.
- Ruminating over the event, dwelling in injustice or frustration.
- Denying the consequences of the event or trying to control them.
- Allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed by panic or anxiety.
What we can try to do:
- Sit quietly for a few moments, without thinking of anything and without any intention of observing.
- Become aware that the event unfolding always has prior causes, even if they elude us.
- Since this event is not the result of chance, recognize that what happens was bound to happen anyway.
- As painful as it may be, accept the occurrence of the event.
This exercise is perhaps the most difficult in the program: it confronts us with pain and requires us to act in a counter-intuitive way, since some conditioned flows are extremely strong—such as injustice, sadness, anger, and so on.
Yet, accepting everything that arises is the only path to avoid adding another turn to the great wheel of karma.
I share my feelings in the Facebook group The Path to Awakening to help others.
